What is the name of your state? Indiana

I will try to make this as breif as possible--My husband has an opportunity to take a job in Kentucky. We spent about 3 weekends in March checking out the area before making a decision. We have a son in high school so the schools systems are important, nice community, close to work etc. We found a real estate agent in Kentucky and let her know that we only had weekends to come down and check things out. We seemed to get along just fine. We never signed anything. Well April/May rolled around and things are getting very busy with my family. The realtor did leave messages on our machine with the name of a relocation realtor. Unfortunetly for one reason or another we have not gotten back to them. So in a few weeks I get this nasty little letter from the realtor. This past week I get a registered letter from her with a break down of all her expeses that she wants to be compensated for. $2800.00 worth! Just because we didn't call her back! Is this legal??
Is this woman crazy? Is this how realtors do business? We never forced her to do anything. If she couldn't make it that was fine. Actually when we went looking on our own and found something we called another realtor from a different company and they came out without asking for anything. Just to show the house. Please help. Thanks in advance.

Contact the angry realtor's supervisor, and inform him/her and send them a copy of the letter and recommend this realtor be disciplined for her threats. In my state (PA) realtors are paid through a commission, and this is not disbursed until settlement. In other words, if you don't sell the house (in PA that is) you get nothing as a realtor.

Unless laws in KY are dramatically different from those in PA, you owe her nothing.

**A: she's an idiot. Call her principal broker and set the matter straight.
