Question: My wife and I purchase a home about one and half years ago. This past spring the town raised our assessment to about 80 percent what we were paying. The assessment roll is at full value. After looking into the other assessments in the area, they are around 64% OF FULL VALUE. We went to the assessment reveiw board and told them is was an unequal assessment to the other homes in the area. They sent us a letter the other day saying NO CHANGE ASSESSMENT IS FAIR AND ADEQUATE. We are now going to Small claims assessment reiew petition with the County. My question is, Is this a true case of unequal assessment, should I get a lawyer, and can I fight this past the County Court.
Thank You,
Tom
