I currently buy and sell vacant property in Michigan, and use my website as a tool for doing so.

I am thinking about offering for sale by owner properties on my site for a fee. Interested parties would need to contact the property owner directly for information or to initiate a sale.

My only involvment would be building hosting their listings and making edits for them.

What are the legal requirements and/or pitfalls for this type of business? Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Many Thanks

WendyWhat is the name of your state?

Absolutely. Pick up your local yellow pages and look under attorneys. Find one that you like and call them.

I really don't understand how ANYONE in business can be so cheap that they don't even want to invest the costs of protecting that business!!!

Wow

I guess that would be the answer to any question posted here....I was hoping for a little insight before deciding whether I would spend the money on an attorney to pursue the issue, since I'm NOT in that business yet. Thanks so much for your helpful advice. :p

Okay, how about this. If you decide to start your business, it would be in your best interest (to protect you) to hire an attorney to help you get your business up and running properly. To make sure that you are conducting your business in a legal manner for your state and locality.
