What is the name of your state? NC
Hi. Can anyone share any info on raffling my house in NC? Is it legal and what are the rules and procedures? I plan to give any monies over and above the payoff to charity. I currently live in SC.

§ 14-309.15.Raffles.

(a) It is lawful for any nonprofit organization or association, recognized by the Department of Revenue as tax-exempt pursuant to G.S. 105-130.11(a), to conduct raffles in accordance with this section. Any person who conducts a raffle in violation of any provision of this section shall be guilty of a Class 2 misdemeanor. Upon conviction that person shall not conduct a raffle for a period of one year. It is lawful to participate in a raffle conducted pursuant to this section. It shall not constitute a violation of State law to advertise a raffle conducted in accordance with this section. A raffle conducted pursuant to this section is not "gambling".

Note that the statute that SJ posts covers the charity conducting the lottery. An individual conducting such, promising to give proceeds to charity is illegal. It's also a fraud as I doubt you really are going to donate anything but stand to get substantial personal gain.

Thank you

Thank you both for your responses, but Flying Ron, I am extremely insulted by your accusation. Do not insinuate that I would keep any money made over and above my payoff because you do not know me. I did not know that I could name the charity, so I did not. If you can not give constructive answers, you need not reply.

I am not insinuating anything. Your 'money to meet the payoff' is your personal gain. You're not doing squat for charity and everything to bail your ass out of getting over your head in borrowed money.

Your foolish insults

I refuse to get into an insult contest with you. All I asked for was assistance, not foolishness. God Bless.
