I live in Pennsylvania. I am having a new home built and the builder originally told me that the home would be done in July. I put my current house up for sale and sold it within a few days. The buyer and I decided that July 16, 2001 would be the settlement date. After all the papers were signed I received a letter from the builder telling me that my new home would not be finished until August 2, 2001. On several occasions I spoke with the persons buying my house and we had several "oral" aggreements that I could rent/lease my house from them until my new house was completed. Last Thursday I received a call from my Real Estate Agent and she informed me that the buyers would NOT honor their "oral" aggreement and I had to be out of my house by July 16, 2001 (Settlement day). My question is: Do I have any recouse here to delay setttlement on my current home? I do not have anywhere to live and its going to cost me in excess of $2500 to move and store my belongings until my new home is completed. Are "oral" aggreements legal in Pennsylvania? (The oral aggreements were witnessed by many others including my Real Estate Agent)
