I have signed a 6-month contract with a realtor to sell my home. I have not decided not to sell my home after all. Can I get out of this contract and how? I am only one month into the contract.
Read the contract you signed. It probably says that you cannot sell your home through any other broker for 6 months, not that you have to sell your home if you don't want to.

This is not legal advice and you are not my client. Double check everything with your own attorney and your state's laws.
You have to look at the language of your listing agreement. See if there is a term for cancelling the listing early. It may impose some financial penalty or require that you not list with any other agency for a given period of time. Also, speak with the broker about your change of heart. No broker wants to work for an unwilling seller. See what they require to terminate the listing, and if you feel it is unfair, then consult a local real estate attorney.
