What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Michigan

Today I received a call from my landlord asking if it was ok for a realtor to enter my apartment to take pictures. I'm not really too into the idea of someone taking pictures of the inside of my home. There's nothing in my lease at all about realtors. The only thing even remotely close is that the landlord can show the place if they are selling it. I don't have a problem showing the apartment, but I don't want pictures to be taken. Do I have the right to NOT let them take pictures of my belongings?

I've tried to search for this answer with no success, so hopefully someone here can answer my question! What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

It's not reasonable for you to refuse entry for this reason. Put away anything you don't want people seeing.

Wow

Just to clue you in a Realtor does sell property - so it is a good bet they are selling yours.... ;)

As I said, I don't mind showing. It's the realtor taking pictures I have a problem with.

It is good they asked, and yes, you can say no.
You say I can deny them of taking pictures of my belongings, can you supply me with a link to this information?

...Yes, I do know what a realtor is, and what they do. They also told me they are selling the place next spring. Topic please.

You can't stop them from taking the pictures.
Can you show me where it says this?

All they need to do is give you NOTICE of entry. They don't need your permission to come in and since taking pictures is not a violation of any law, you can't stop them from doing it.

I beg to differ on this point. As long as entry is provided, the tenant has fulfilled their obligations. To make an absurd example, let's say the LL wants to show the apartment, but the buyers have a poop fetish and want to see how a nice steaming turd would look on the kitchen floor and the LL, desperate to re-rent, is willing to show them. But, being a good LL, he tells the current tenant, "Oh hey, I'm going to show the unit to this nice German couple tomorrow and you might want to move your kitchen rug out of there because it's going to get messy."

Do you still think the tenant can't dictate what is done inside their apartment once entry has been allowed? :D

So there's nothing I can do? Or should I **** in my kitchen? I kind of got side side tracked once I read about the poo fetish.

I think there's a HUGE difference between taking a few photos to advertise the house and taking a crap on the kitchen floor. Taking pictures doesn't damage anything and no one cares what your furniture looks like. Remove any identifying knicknacks and let them take all the pictures they want, it doesn't hurt you and you are being unreasonably controlling about the whole situation.

Obviously you're not understanding where I'm coming from. It's a privacy matter more than anything. I take it you don't live in a major city? I live in Detroit, and really don't like the idea of some random jack off knowing what's inside my house - along with where it all is. If they're just showing the pictures to potential buyers, fine. If they're plastering them over the internet then that's a problem. Think about it. I'm done trying to explain the situation - it's obviously too much.

I know I'm being so controlling over my PRIVACY. If I asked for a dick, I would have said so in my title.
