I am looking for some legal advice. 2 days ago I got rear ended by a non marked LAPD car. The officer was speeding and didnt see tthat the traffic on the 405 freeway was on a complete stop. My car got rear ended at full speed pushing my car un top the car in front of me and then hitting the wall.

My GF got a lot of cuts on her face, I got a hurt neck and now i am wearing a neck brace.

The car is totaled and we are lucky to be alive. my only problem is that I only have liability insurance with usaa. when I called them they basically cant do anything cause I dont have collision insurance.

I dont know what to do. I dont have a car anymore, I cant go to work cause of my painful neck, I have ptsd from the accident and it really hurts to see my Girlfriend with her messed up face.

any advice on what I can do to get the city to pay for my car. the medical bills. the lost wages and all the pain and suffering we are going thru.

thank you

Jose

I suggest you get a lawyer for your injury claims. He can also help you with the property damage claim. Expect it to take a long time, government claims always do.

hired lawyer

Thanks for your advice. I hired the office of Larry H Parker to represent me on my accident and medical claims. Now i am looking at the reviews on the internet and the reviews are really bad. I already have the feeling that I am gettting screw over by this lawfirm. what can I do?

Next time do your homework BEFORE you sign a contract. Read your contract to see if there is any way out of it.

Please delete your lawyer's name from your post.

Larry H. Parker can get YOU 3.1 million. The OP does not need to delete. It's almost to the point of general use.

ecmst12, I can talk about the business model of LHP, but won't. I will say there is nothing related to a secret by using the name.

Larry H. Parker "fights for you". He"s long ago sold the business and there is a large network of attorneys who get referrals and act as "Larry H. Parker". It's a fancy business scheme as Larry has nothing to do with any case. He was famous in California as he had a good looking guy saying "Larry H. Parker got me 3.1 million." (Or, was it 3.2?) Little did the viewers know the guy talking was substantively screwed up (paraplegic) from clear liability of another. Lots of commercials on TV, magazine, radio and other venues. I think the CA Bar changed advertising rules for TV because of him.

So, yes, he's a franchise firm.

So basically the firm is so big that any online reviews most likely have nothing to do with the ACTUAL attorney that he will be working with.

In that case, OP should relax and let his lawyer do his job, and have realistic expectations. Which is why I pointed out that government claims always take a REALLY long time. Even his property damage claim will likely take months to settle.

BTW, are you in therapy for your PTSD symptoms? If you aren't receiving any treatment for them, then you have no objective proof that the problem exists and is severe enough to require treatment, so you won't be able to claim anything related to that. And of course if you really DO have PTSD (nightmares, flashbacks, hypervigilance severe enough to interfere with your daily activities), the sooner you get into treatment the more likely you are to make a complete recovery.

Then again, if you DON'T really have PTSD but you're just nervous about driving, that's not something you can claim. I got rear ended TWICE 3 weeks apart, the second one was 3 weeks ago today. Both were low speed and relatively minor, the first time I wasn't injured but the second time I was, and I'm pretty much terrified every time I hit traffic on the highway now. My heart pounds every time someone tailgates me. But I just take a few (or many) deep breaths and keep driving...it's not that bad. So it's not something I can tack on to my injury claim - it hasn't been documented, it hasn't caused me to incur any costs, and it doesn't interfere with my daily activities (I'm scared to drive in rush hour but I still do it). Likewise, being upset when you look at your gf's injuries is not something you can claim.

Yes. Although I believe he's still an attorney, I'm not sure Larry H. Parker can do legal work as Larry H. Parker as he sold rights to the name quite a while ago.

I've been rear-ended twice. Both times, I was in the #3 lane. I no longer travel in the #3 lane ;)
