What is the name of your state? California

Hi. I am not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I couldn't find any other categories. This question might have been asked many times before, but I couldn't locate anything about rebates either.

I purchased a TV at Office Depot in San Diego, California on Nov. 25th. (the day after Thanksgiving.) The TV came with two kinds of rebates-- #1 is $200 rebate from the manufacturer (Syntax Corporation) and #2 $100 rebate from Office Depot.

I did all the paperworks, cut the UPS barcodes and mailed them to both companies. I did certify them and have the original receipts. I also copied all the paperworks and the barcodes just to be on the safe side.

Both companies claim that it'll take 60-90 days to process the rebate. It has been almost 4 months and still no words/ checks. I have called the customer service at the Office Depot, and the respresentative told me "I'm sorry, for some reason you are not entered in our system. Please send them again to xxxxxx (alternate address). I apologize for any inconvenience." I have also called the Syntax customer service, but I was put on hold for 48 minutes.. when it finally got disconnected.

I have the copies that I can fill out and send to them again, but is it my only option? The person I shopped with that day (who got the same exact TV at the same exact location) has received one of the two rebates, with the other being processed as of today.

My questions are:
1. Is it possible to take it to a small claims court if I do not receive the rebate check?
2. Should I try to mail the documents again, as the customer service agent suggested, and if I do so, is it ok to include a letter mentioning I would take any further actions if I have to?
3. Is there anything else I can do?

Sorry this is becoming a novel.. I didn't know what to do. Anyone who has any suggestions, comments, advice- I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks.

Your experience is not unusual.

You just send in your stuff and hope for the best.

Going to small claims court would cost more than the rebate.
