What is the name of your state? Illinois

Well, I origionally got a Sears card when I was 18 and being young and stupid was not very responsible with the payments. Before long I was turned over to Sherman Acquisitions II LP and they began hounding me for the money which I really could not afford at the time. I did not know about validation letters and such at the time so I never responded (like that would make it go away icon_redface.gif ) and yesterday i received a summons to appear in court for this. My question is, where should I go from here? Should I contact Sherman and see if they will work out a payment plan for me or could I possibly contact Sears to see if they would still accept payments? I sent Sears an online $10 payment today just to see if they still would and it went through, but I dont know if that even counts toward the money I owe.

I really want to avoid having to go to court as I cant afford the time off and dont want to have to pay court costs. The total amount that I owe according to Sherman is $1910.34 plus costs. Help! What should I do?

I've had this happen to me before. I called the creditor that was taking me to court and asked them for a payment plan. They gave me one and I avoided going to court. Hope it works for you. :)
