What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Texas

A friend of mine received some expensive gifts from a woman he was dating. Since they have stopped dating she has been harassing him everyday to pay her back. He was under the impression these were gifts and no payment back was necessary. She is constantly a bother and is now threatening law suit. Does she have a case? Is there an action he should take first to prevent anything serious?

The burden of proof will be on her to show that these things were not gifts...but with that said, what type of gifts? It may make a difference...
