My son was recently rear ended while waiting to turn onto a side road.He was not sited the other driver was sited for following to closely.We had only liability and the other driver had collision.We reported the accident to insuance the next day.Son has had to miss work, does not have a second car,
no injuries reported.how soon can i expect the other drivers insurance to make a settlement offer?

You said the other driver had collision coverage. What you need to check into is if the other driver had Liability coverage. Collision coverage only covers the damage to your own vehicle whereas liability coverage will cover the damage to the other vehicle.

The case sounds simple. Do not wait for the other insurance to call you to make an offer, call them and get the ball rolling. Get your own estimates, get documentation to prove the time off from work and the amount of lost wages. Since there is no injury, you will recover your out of pocket expenses (cost to fix car, rental, and lost wages). You can ask for some amount for inconvinience, but don't expect much (if any at all).
