i am in missouri and 27 years ago was convicted and did 17 months on what they call a zip 6 in the federal corrections institution. i also received 3 consecutive 2 yrs sentenced and was placed on parole for the state. i had an attorney do a record check on me because i was told my record would be exponged and he said he could find nothing on me. my question is do i have to answer a question on an application for the public school application for volunteer and work history where it says were you ever arrested on a felony if nothing is showing up on my record check? it has been 27 years and if i answer yes to this question it says to explain. it could cost me the opportunity to become a teachers assistant if i have a record. what to do????? please help.
