What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Iowa
Are law enforcement officers required to keep a daily log of the call or complaints they respond too? I have been told that some are and some are not. It does not seem reasonable that they all would not be required to keep a record of some sort to prove that they did investigate citizen complaints along with the evidence of who, what, where, and why evidence determining the findings of every investigation. What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?
thanks,

No. But the agency usually has a log of calls their officers are dispatched to, and they tend to maintain logs of activity that their officers advise their dispatch that they are involved in. But, I know of no state that has a law requiring an officer to keep his own personal log ... or, of a law requiring an agency to even keep such a record (though every agency I know of does so to one degree or another).

If a crime is reported, and the agency makes a report of that crime, then one can assume that they have a report on file somewhere with some or all of the information you mentioned. However, only in rare cases are their laws that require an agency to take a report as a crime, and even rarer that they have to release any of that info on demand.

Why is this an issue?
