I am a director of a juvenile corrections facility in Florida. As you can image, I sometimes get calls from parents who attempt to bully and intimidate. Recently, a parent called me who was very unreasonable, she told me that she was going to start record the phone call. I made it very clear that I did not wish to be recorded (not because I had anything to hide, she has a history of doing bizzar things, I did not know what she would do with the tape). A few minutes later she informed me that she was recording the phone call (meaning she had already been recording against my conset). I again told her I did not wish to be recorded, she continued to do so anyway and I hung up.

Can she record without my conset in Florida? Do I have any recourse?

Thank you

wire tapping by an outside agency requires court approval, but a conversation between two people can be recorded by either or both parties as long as one of the people in the conversation knows it's being done. her informing you of the recording was a courtesy on her part. Record her back. tapes that have been dubbed are easily refuted.
