 Missouri
Is it legal to record a conversation when the other party is not aware? Not on the telephone but face to face. The party taping the conversation is trying to prove blackmail. And if it is legal can it be used in court - criminal/civil.

Thank you! Missouri

Missouri

Can you legally record a conversation with some one without them knowing? Example: can I hide a tape recorder on my person, tape a conversation I'm having with some one and then use it in a court room to prove blackmail?

Thanks for any help with this matter.

I gave you the answer. Now, how about providing some facts which MIGHT give us grounds to give you a better answer.

For example, where did the conversation take place? With whom? Under what circumstances? in what state?

get the point?

taping a conversation

AGAIN the state is Missouri! the conversation was in a public place in Missouri, the person was a ex-spouse. Is there really that many gray areas in the law that you can answer yes, no and maybe?????

Tell you what. You take that attitude and pay a local attorney about $200 for your opinion. I'm done.

If you don't know the answer just say so. I don't know why you are offended, you set the tone and I replyed with the same??

So I'll tell you what, you keep your condesending opinions and I'll keep my $200.

Maybe there are people on this site who want to help people, just for the sake of helping. And I'm sure there are other people who are here just to talk down to others so they can feel better about themselves- yes, no, maybe.

get the point.
