Dear mcfmly,

Unless the attorney obtains prior permission from their client they may not release any information about their client to you under any circumstances. All information is protected by attorney-client privilege.

Why would you pay that much for these types of referrals anyhow? Either subscribe to BANKO and get the information electronically or go down to the bankruptcy court and get copies of all of the new filings everyday. This is all public record, BANKO will charge you $1.00 per hit the BK court will charge you nothing to go in and make up a mailing list.

Just curious, Is BANKO information different from PACER information.

I got a PACER account to watch my bankruptcy go through the courts. (I didnt trust my lawyer to file correctly).

Here they have something called RACER. It allowed my to get all my BK documents on PDF file. I have all my filings on PDF. If I ever need to prove my BK to a creditor. I just print out the docs and send them. Costs .07 cents a page. And if you dont spend 10 bucks. You never get billed. (I spent 10 bucks already).

BANKO is a bankruptcy information clearinghouse. PACER is a court record retrieval system. PACER can be used to access other courts besides bankruptcy courts.
