What is the name of your state? Virginia

This could go in the divorce section, but deals mainly with property. If this is in the wrong section, sorry. I have been waiting for the wife to get her act together so everything can be finished. But she is playing around, and I am, to say the least, upset.

I am the primary on a car loan, which she has pyhsical custody of (the car), in Washington, DC. I am making the payments cause she either can't or won't, and I want to keep some symbolance of a good credit rating. So my plan is to get it refinanced in my name alone, so the title is in my name alone (or mine and the bank). Then either demand she return the car to me, or have it reposessed if she fails to do so. (Any fees I incur I would go after in small claims court) After getting posession of the car, sell it and pay off the loan, or at least pay off what I can get for it.

So the question is, does this seem like a reasonable plan? (I know "reasonable" is subjective) Currently the car is registered in her name in DC. Would this cause any issues? I assume that the title holder would "trump" the registered owner.
