Refund retainer

What is the name of your state?Mo.
If I paid a attorney $2500 retainer and my friend is who dropped off the cash and I have a receipt now. If she returns any money after she withdrew from my case , can she keep it from me because I am not who dropped off the cash. Because she literally told me that she won't give it to me maybe my friend . And it was cash. I'm the client not my friend.
