I had a package to be delivered the beginning of this month that never arrived. Concerned my package may be lost, I got the tracking # and discovered that someone else signed for and received the package that was addressed to me. I only discover this nearly 3 weeks after the fact. There has been no attempt from the person to contact me or to give me my package. The value of the package is just under $100.

What of this person who signed for my package? Is this petit larceny? The package wasn't taken from me, because it didn't get to me in the 1st palce.

And what of the incompetent courier who gave my package to some joker, even though the addresses and names did not match?

(same St. name, but there are 2 St's with the same in town, different zip codes and house #'s though.)

Any help that anybody could give me would be greatly appriciated.
Thanks

not exactly petty larceny. it is a federal crime to avert rerout open or destroy mail destined to another person. call your local postmaster and he will quote you chapter and verse. then armed with that information, approach theperson who did get your mail and ask that it be returned to you.if they say no call a cop.
