What is the name of your state?paundefinedmy 8 year old 3rd grade son goes to catholic school yet is not catholic. it seems that he is being targeted by the principal.
he is a straight a student with a 99 on his IOWA test....we have been asked to volantarily remove him from the school for behavior problems ( crying in class wrote the other word for donkey on the playground in chalk talking with his mouth full of chewed food )
he is currently not allowed to participate with his classmates in gym, art, music, or library and now has been told he needs to sit at a lunch table all alone until next year. The funny thing is that the talking with his mouth full of chewed food happened 9 calander days prior to this punishment being put upon him there were 2 lunch periods in that time frame that he waas allowed to attend his normal seat. Then all of a sudden this comes up. He has been told by his teacher that he is not part of the class and has been disciplined for calling out in class by having him sit out in the hallway by himself for 5 hours unsupervised.

thank you for a legitimate reply..... probably my fault I wasn't clear... my questioning isn't reguarding a suit... and i guess the discrimination is my opinion as to these harsh and untimely punishments. I guess my concern is the severity and untimelyness of the punishments. Are they allowed. Can an 8 year old be sat in the hallway unsupervised for 5 hours. ( we have instructed them that if they feel that type of punishment is required again to call his stay at home mother to come pick him up ) Can they make him eat lunch alone for a month because another student told on him for talking with his mouth full of chewed food. And why 9 days later.Ok he did it you punish him now not allow him to attent two more lunches ( only 2 due to holidays ) and then go oh yeah remember when. We have taken him to see a psychologist to make sure he had no serious issues... and he didn't. I'm concered for the amount of separation from the rest of the class... the singleing out... and the telling to him that he's not part of the class... that he is enduring. We are currently attempting to find other residency so that he can attend a public school ( the district we live in we believe to have an unsafe school ) I am merely looking for something to tell them that they cant separate him this much at the developmental age of 8...or something to get them to back off until we can get him into another school

Actually, no, the school is free to discipline the student as they see fit, within the law. And absent any verifiable abuse, a private school is unbound by many educational statutes which control the general public school actions.

i guess u would also conedone 10 yrs in prison for J walking

No but I might "condone" 5 years in a county jail... :p

You got your answer from BB and you did not get my subtle jibe. :(

It is not religious discrimination which was your title, you are worried about the discipline of your child, take it up with the school. This is no longer a legal question.

Run along now and teach your 8 year old to use a crosswalk.
