What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? WI

I have sole custody/placement. Son's mother is about 95% uninvolved.

My son's mother is vehemently against him having any kind of religious instruction. In the past, when we had joint custody I always figured that meant that my hands were tied as far as my beliefs go.

Someone recently mentioned to me, however, that if I feel strongly enough about it too son's mother cannot really "overrule" my thoughts on the matter. It would come down to me getting to do what I want on my time, and she getting to do what she wants on her time. She can instruct him in her beliefs and I in mine.

Is that a fair assumption to make?

(Even though I have full custody/placement now, I'm not going to just up and have my son baptized etc, just because I can... Tempting though.. :p )

It is up to each parent to make any and all 'routine and minor decisions' regarding the children while the children are in their possession. This includes religious training - regardless of legal custodial status.

That is the advice that I have repeatedly received from GALs and attorneys.
