I drive a truck for a living. In 01/99 I accepted a new position from my company which required a move of 100 miles. A non written requirement was that I live no more than 25 miles from the new remote location (loading dock). I live 21 miles from that dock. This location was recently closed. Myself and 3 other drivers are now required to drive 100 miles (1hr45min) to pick up our load. We are not compensated for this time at all. Other drivers from the main location which now come into our area are paid from the time they get there until the time they leave. We are only paid one way. They claim it is a luxury that we can take our trucks home at the end of the day. Myself and the other drivers are fuming. And what of the implications of an injury accident while driving a commercial vehicle while not punched in (on duty). Thank you for any responses.
