We live in Westchester county NY and moved into a nice apt complex last November after suddenly having to move from our previous home because of a very bad legal experience that left us $10K poorer and with no home --

we like this place and its perfect for me - i have a disability which means i need a ground floor apt which ths is and it allows pets and all the things you want we have.

Now i find that one of our neighbors went to renew his lease and was told that the landlord (which is a real estate company) has chosen not to renew his lease for no other reason it seems than they just don't want to. he is now pursuing this legally.
This has caused me to wonder when our lease is up in November and we say "We;d like to stay another year." that suddenly we mmay find ourselves in the same situation.

I have a strange feeling that this is going to be a one way choice -- THEIRS.

Thats life......nothing you can do about it......

Too bad they didnt give the neighbor the lease, then if you were denied you might be able to say its becuase of your disability.

But as long as they are fair and even handed about not renewing leases.....then i would suggest you start really saving your money today, just in case.

Do not take what your neighbor is saying as the gospel truth. Most landlords love a tenant that wants to renew their lease, then they do not have to try to locate a new tenant.

The landlord may have decied no to renew the lease for many reasons (non payment of rent, late payments, damages to the property, other tenant complaints, etc.) Just keep paying your rent on time.

Good luck to you.
