Someone help. I rent a room in a house. I found a Sheriff's Sale/Auction notice on the door saying that in a little over a month the house will be forclosed on. Landlady denies there is a problem. Do I have rights? What will happen to me? I am on vacation the date on the notice. Will all of my things be taken? What does this mean? What will happen?
I live in Allamuchy, New Jersey.

Lets see..... who to believe? Sheriff notice or landlady.

I think I would trust the sheriff notice. Get your stuff packed and ready to move. Keep a copy of the sheriff notice if possible (you may need it to justify your early termination of lease).

In either case, it sounds like the landlady is having problems with her lender and, though this notice could be rescinded, the next one may not be.

Oh, and reschedule your 'vacation'. You may need to be 'home' for this one.
