ARE OUR OPTIONS IF WE DO NOT WANT TO PAY THIS IN-
CREASE OR CANT EVEN AFFORD THIS INCREASE. WHAT IS THE
LEGAL AMOUNT OF NOTICE THEY SHOULD GIVE US BEFORE
THROWING OR ATTEMPTING TO THROW US OUT. WE HAVE
BEEN UPRIGHT TENANTS FOR 7 YEARS AND PAID OUR RENT
ON TIME FOR 7 YEARS. AWAITING YOUR URGENT RESPONSE.

NY law states you must give someone a 30 day notice to raise the rent, from the time you normally pay rent.. so if the landlord did that the $460 increase will take effect on APRIL 1st.... If you dont hand over FULL RENT with the increase then he can start evcition proceedings.

AND the landlord can demand you pay ANOTHER $460 to be added to your security deposit, if your lease stated a 1 month security. So be careful.....

NOW why dont you have a lease?
