About a month ago I rented a car while my vehicle was beig repaired. When we turned the car in there was no damage to the car but no one from the rental car place would come out to look it over for us to ensure no damage. We sgned the paper with no damge and left. Then 5 days later we were charged $530 on the same card used to rent it (our ATM/debit car) for some damage that we supposedly put on the car. We asked the company to give proof of the damage and to justify the charges but they have not been willing to do so. We also contacted our insurance company to help with the amount and the Dealer told our insurance company that our insurance guy didn't know anything about repairs or claims and wouldn't work wth them. We found out they sent us to a collection agency within a week after the charges and then 5 days later the bank reversed the charges at our request. Now we have a collection agency asking for $726 and it has been reported on our credit report. Is there anything legal we can do or are we stuck just having to pay it along with the extra amount for the collection agency? This is very upsetting and we are tired of dealing with it all. Any help is greatly appreciated.
