Take your original lease to the county recorder and record it on the parcel number of the house. This puts everyone on notice that you have a right to stay until the lease ends. Unless state law says otherwise, the new owner buys the house subject to your lease and becomes your new landlord. (Make sure your damage deposit is transferred to the new owner at closing.)

Your current landlord will have to bribe you into moving before your lease ends. He has to reimburse you for the extra rent you have to pay to find a comparable house. Hold him up for at least $1000.

If you're on a month-to-month lease, you'll have to move after 30 day's notice or so. However, the closing will take at least that long.

[We are on a month to month lease,so if we do not find anyplace to live big enough for 5 of us......they can evict us? If so can we get thrown out on the streets? The house will be owner occupied after it sells.

We have been making every effort to find a rental property ,including putting an ad in the newspaper. There is nothing out there.

Thanks for advice......Nancy
