What is the name of your state? WA

After 5 years of putting my husband through college, he will soon be graduating. However, we have no choice but to file bankruptcy due to the pile of debt we accumulated over the years of having only 1 income, not to mention the anticipated student loan payments. We will need to move to find a job but I am deeply concernced about our ability to rent an apartment after years of horrible credit and now a bankruptcy. Will the past credit kill our chances or will the fact that we will now have a higher income and more stability be enough to overlook the past credit issues?

Thank you.

All landlords are different.
The really large apt complexes may well run credit checks. Smaller complexes and private ll's may not. A lot will also depend on how desparate apt complexes are for tenants. In my area, they way overbuilt a few years ago and with the drop in interest rates, more and more people qualified for a mortgage. Many places are running ads stating no credit check plus other incentives just to get the vacancy rate lowered.
