Repayment of bonus & relocation expense

My company moved from NY to California & offered a bonus and relocation expenses to make the move. Employees were required to sign an agreement to repay the bonus & relocation expenses if they leave before 1 year of the move. I took the money but did not sign the agreement to repay the money. Do I have to repay the money if I leave before 1 year?

Why would you think you would have to repay if you didn't sign the agreement? They hired you anyway, right?
