I live in an apartment and my dogs are believed to have caused damage to an air conditioner condenser that is on my patio. The landlord wants me to replace the unit--for $2300.
My lease stipulates that I am liable for the entire amount of all damage caused by the pets. Am I responsible for buying a new AC unit, or should I only be respsonsible for a prorated amount to the unit based on the units age. That is, if the average lifespan of the AC unit is 20 years, and the unit was 5 years old, would I therefore only owe them for 75% of the cost of the unit?
Thanks,
Toddmanqa
