My son attends a private liberal arts college in PA, and will be senior next fall. Can a residential college require that a student stay on campus and reside in on-campus housing senior year? A senior privilege is living off campus in a college-owned apartment, selection determined by a lottery. In light of the economy, and paying nearly $50,000/year for tuition, room and board, we are considering letting him commute or rent an inexpensive apartment near the campus. I konw in the past, exceptions are made, but I do not know the circumstances. Because we are not on financial aid, he cannot work on campus, which would be ideal. All jobs are for students on financial aid and work-study programs. He has tried getting a job near campus, but the school is in a sleepy town with few businesses in the surrounding area. Your insight and help is much appreciated. Thank you.
