On my request, my lawyer sent request on Feb 2, 2005 to INS to reschedule my citizenship interview date. Letter was received by INS on Feb 4 (lawyer has certified mail and return receipt that letter was received by INS). (My interview date was Feb 11).

Now, me and my lawyer, both of us received notices from INS dated Feb 14 that I failed to appear for interview and if I do not reply to notice in 1 month, they will close my case.

My lawyer has sent anothet letter explaining the situation and requesting rescheduling of date. (Second letter also sent by certified mail & return receipt {return receipt not yet received, as letter sent only 4 days ago}).

Should I send a letter myself to INS (in addition to the letter sent by my lawyer) requesting a new date?

Should I call the INS customer service 800 375 5283 requesting a new date?

Does anyone know what happens in these situations?

Any thing to worry about?

Thanks in advance

No, you cannot call that number because the appointments are set with the local office and not with the national customer service line. As long as your attorney properly directed that initial letter and the second letter is likewise properly directed, you should be fine.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions or if I may be of further assistance to you in this matter.
