What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Arizona

Is it legal to purchase products from stores like Costco and Wal-Mart, take your own pictures of the products, and then resell them online on your own website?

Your company would own the products since you purchased them, but are there any copyright violations or anything like that one would need to be worried about (TM's on product labels, etc)?

Yes it's legal. But there may be other problems. The manufacturer may not honor the warranty if you are not an authorized reseller. Any rebates or other discounts may not be honored. You could also face civil action if a retailer is guaranteed exclusive selling rights in a specific area.

When you say authorized reseller do you mean just acquiring a tax-privledge resell license from the state, city, county, etc.? Any suggestions on how to identify who has exclusive selling rights in certain areas?

Thanks for the helpful reply.

An authorized reseller is granted exclusive territory or advertising. The reseller is allowed certain priveliges such as using the company's logo in it's advertising. It's all in the agreement a retailer makes with the manufacturer/supplier. It has nothing to do with the licensing of the business.
