response to modification of child support

What is the name of your state?TX
I was served w/court papers petitioning a modification of child support, it stated that i needed to respond by a certain amount of days....I know that the non-custodial wants to lower the child support, what exactly do i need to do to respond to this, do i just write a letter...I have searched everywhere to find an example of a response, but it seems that i have to have an attorney to respond for me...if i can't afford an attorney what happens?What is the name of your state?
