My son is on probation until 4/2012 for a juvenile misdemeanor. He's 18 now. Can he be held responsible for his legal costs?
As his parents, under the terms of his probation, we are supposed to provide a lawyer for him when he is required to appear in court and keep him in our home until the end of the probation. Is there a way for him to leave our home and be responsible for his own living and legal expenses? We have been told by his probation officer that he can move out if he has a job and is acting responsibly, but he isn't. We don't want to be responsible for his expenses any more. What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?
