I rent a home in Florida with a fenced yard. In the fall I raked the leaves. Two months later much of the grass was dead and my two dogs began tracking dirt into the house. We planted new grass and it is growing. My landlord came by and is mad because his St. Augustine grass is partially gone and he does not like the new grass. We did not know that the St. Augustine grass in the yard was valuable or that by raking it too much, it could die. Also the dogs running probably partially contributed. The landlord would like for us to pay for an expensive landscape service to come and re-sod the yard fully with St. Augustine grass. When we moved in the yard was in good condition but did already have some bare spots. Are we responsible for paying for the lawn to be replanted with St. Augustine grass?
