Responsibility for Debt

What is the name of your state? Ohio

If I knew what terms to search for I might be able to find something, but I know different states have different laws, so I'm going to ask. Please excuse me if the answer is under my nose.

My mom and dad have been seperated for some year.. Most of my life but never divorced. Though my mom was able to get child support and my dad was arrested a few time for it so I know there was some Legal Separation in the past.

Since they were never divorced is my mom responsible for any debts my dad occurs now. He's an idiot and found another like him to help him start a sure to fail business and he is creating all kinds of accounts in his name. Also, his health is starting to fail and he might create bills that way.

Since they aren't divorced is she responsible for him with accounts he creates and if he passes away would she be responsible for his bills?

If so, is there anythig she can do to stop that from happening without the divorce. She's a bit afraid of him and just wants to protect the little that she has build.

Your mom needs to get a divorce...pronto. Its simply foolish not to do so.

Agreed. As they are married she may find herself saddled with many problems that your dad is creating.
