What is the name of your state? Massachusetts

Hi, while in college a few years ago my fraternity house in Worcester, MA was robbed by a local resident. He and at least one other person (both adults) broke into our house over Thanksgiving break when everyone was out of town and stole items from multiple rooms. From myself, they stole a digital camera (purchased at $300.00) and a nice watch (purchased at $120.00). Among other items were DVDs, a guitar, Playstation 2, and expensive snowboard.

Eventually, the digital camera was found at a pawn shop and the serial numbers were matched. This is how the individual was caught. I was never able to go to the hearing as I was out of the country at the time, but I found out the end result from my friends who were able to attend. I know that my friend's guitar and my camera were recovered and in custody of the police dept. My friend received his guitar back, but I never saw my camera again and I'm afraid it's new owner is someone who shopped at the police's evidence vault. Supposedly, this person was ordered to pay myself $200 restitution fee within the next 2 years (which is an absolutely ridiculous timeframe).

As I expected, I never received a dime from this person nor the Police dept. for my stolen items. I've tried numerous times contacting the Worcester, MA PD, and DA, but no one will give me any useful information. I don't know what laws and rights I have and I'm in need of some advice as to how I should check on the status of this. Will I ever receive a check for this crime?

Thanks to anyone that can help!

Jay
