Court ordered restitution is being imposed at a payment rate in excess of my income and therefore, far exceeding my ability to pay. Is that not taken into accoun? The probation office has told me to provide my financial data and then they proceed by completely ignoring it. Do I need an attorney to handle this or should I continue to try to work this out with the probation office responsible for the financial portion of my probation?

First, I suggest you work this out with the probation office. Perhaps they were mistaken and you need to bring the mistake to their attention. Try calling them and if that does not work then send a letter with copies of your financial info enclosed. Finally, if that does not work, consult with an attorney. Be sure to keep track of your correspondence with the office.
