What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? NY

I live in New York, but have a CA question. I moved to New York earlier this year and had reported at my place of employment's campus police department that one of my female co-workers, an ex of mine would not stop calling or emailing me, making life unpleasant for my wife and I. They told me that I couldn't get a restraining order, but would make note of the report. Recently she started contacting us again through email and we emailed her telling her to STOP! I also told her that my wife would be in CA on business and would be stopping at the campus to follow up with the campus police. She has replied saying she is going to their office tomorrow to file a restraining order against us because we threatened her. ???? This was the exact wording used in my email "My wife will be stopping in on campus while there in CA to follow up on the report I filed earlier this year with the campus police". Can she do this and file a restraining order against me and/or my wife? If so, wouldn't this be on our record? We pretty much abide by the law and worry her craziness will harm us.

Thanks!

I doubt if there will be any restraining orders issued, if what you have posted is the extent of the problems you are having.

"Making life unpleasant" is not a legitimate enough reason for a court to issue such an order - especially since this lady now lives on the opposite side of the country from you.

I recommend you stop all contact with her, change your email address and screen all phone calls. Do not send any more emails to her, or talk to her again, for any reason.
