What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? CA
In the event of a restraining order being filed, what are the terms between the two parties it involves? Are they not allowed to see or speak with one another even though it has not been granted? And is everyone involved notified when the restraining order is either granted or declined?

When an RO is REQUESTED, nothing happens.

If an RO is GRANTED, then you have to avoid whatever behavior the RO prohibits. Since there are lots of different types of ROs, it's impossible to be more specific than that.
