A couple months ago I purchased a recliner from a local furniture store that was holding a sample liquidation sale. Due to inventory limits, the recliner I purchased had to be delivered to me from another store. When I received the chair it wasn't either the right style or even close to the fabric color we paid $200 for. I spoke with the salesperson and the owner/manager to no avail. The store claimed it had made it clear that all sales were final and there would be no returns. After I delivered the chair back to the local store and met with the owner one last time, he gave me a store credit... not my cash. I don't want to ever give this company my biz again! Over the last few weeks I've taped a hand-written letter on the store's large front window or front door that pretty much says: In my opinion this store's service and sales policy stinks! Buyer be ware! The first week my note stayed up on their main window for a few days. I got a call from the store owner yesterday saying he knows I've been leaving the nasty notes and he's going to sue me for libel, slander, business or personal defamation. I didn't admit writing them. I've got to say the letters made me feel better and his store deserves the hit, but if he can prove I wrote them, does he have a case?

You are free to voice your opinion about the store as long as it's clearly an opinion. You may find yourself in trouble for attaching something to the store window though.

Tell the store you are going to picket them if they don't straighten out the problem. That usually gets their attention.

File a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and also your state attorney general's office--both will investigate and put some heat on this person to do what they advertised or perhaps negotiate a refund for you. Do not do any other actions to bring attention to this store.
