What is the name of your state? VT In my case the coworkers retaliated against me for complaining about the SH on another coworker/their friend. What surprised me was how the company handled it. But, anyways, my question is wouldn't pouring a chemical (they thought was funny) onto a chair at someones station be considered an assault? Would the company be liable to any employee for this type of scare? I had no idea what kind of chemical it was, then the company claims I said it was water in an affidavit, which I never ever claimed! But the foreman of my area said it was only water, and he could not find out who did it. How would an employee defend themselves in this type of situation. Faith

But, anyways, my question is wouldn't pouring a chemical (they thought was funny) onto a chair at someones station be considered an assault? Assaulting YOU would be illegal. Assaulting your chair is not. If there are any further incidents that you consider retaliation from your co-workers for complaining of SH, you report that to your manager and HR immediately and let them handle it.

well for one thing we have to wear protective garments from head to toe because of working in a clean room. Secondly, the main chemicals I worked around were dangerous, and even though water is not dangerous, nor is alcohol, because of the upset of my reporting the SH and these guys pulling jokes and pissed off at me, my first reaction sitting at my station and feeling ice coldness seeping down my legs from someone pouring a liquid onto "my chair", was not knowing if it was liquid nitrogen or what? It scared the living crap out of me at first. So, yes, now I realize it wasnt dangerous, but while running as fast as I could into the womans bathroom, undressing out of protective garments and seeing my jeans soaked, ripping them off and seeing my skin red, I wasnt sure what it was until I realized after drying off it must of been alcohol or something that didnt freeze my skin quickly, or burn me. At the time, I didn't know. And I still don't know for sure what it was. Thanks
