What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? CA

A friend of mine is getting divorced..

He wasn't married long (1.5yrs) and during that time contributed very little to a his 401k (about 3k)

Can his X get half of his total 401k or more likely just what was contributed during that time?

How about his Social Security?

She does not work..

She does not work..
They will each be entitled to 1/2 of MARITAL assets and 1/2 of marital debt. If he needs more information, he should google 'self help divorce california' or sign up for his own account.
