retirement question

What is the name of your state? The state i am living in is Arizona, but this is from a company in New Jersey..
My husband worked for a company for 20 years and has a retirement fund from them, but his ex-wife is on there as his wife still.
He left her in 1999, and we have been together for going on 6 years now.
Married for going on 2.
My question is ..... Can he take her name off and put my name on?
He heard that once a name is on the policy you cannot change names.

IT is not a 401 k cause i know he took that already, it is a company pension plan.
