I lived in Texas and moved to Nevada for work. My former Texas landlord withheld $195.00 from my security deposit for damage to his underground sewer lines. In his letter he states that I must have drove my trailer over his lawn crushing the pipes.( In the bill from the plumber it says someone must have driven on the lawn and crushed the pipes.) First I don't have a trailer and second I never drove on his lawn. These pipes were leaking in late August and I told him about it while he was at the house next door. He came over and looked at it and said it was sewage. Nothing was ever done to repair the pipes until we called the city annonymously and they came out and ordered him to make the repairs. This was late November. We vacated the house on Dec 18,2000 having given a two month notice and paying all rent for Dec. The plumbers bill is dated Dec. 6th 2000. I think he is trying to get me to pay for his faulty plumbing and I want to know what I can do now that I live so far away. Can I take him to small claims court?

Thanks

Thanks for the info djdj. Does anyone else have a better solution since going back to Texas is out of the question ...It would cost more than What the landlord stole from me.
