I was injured back in Jan 06, after 3 surgeries and lots of pt am getting to the end of my recovery. The way I was injured was extrememly stupid on so many levels. One being my own for allowing it to happen in the first place another for the employer thinking it was a safe working practice. I work in a warehouse with product on shelving that I have to pick so I am a order filler. In order to reach product off the top shelves you have to stradle yourself on the shelving to get it down, I lost my footing on the shelving hitting my elbow on the way down which did damage to my shoulder, neck and elbow. Ok, I know this was not the safest thing to do climbing shelves but that is what we are told to do and there are no ladders, step stools for this job. It has even been stated in a job analysis. Immediately following I contacted WISHA or OSHA about this practice and they have been in told employer they will have to lower the product off the top shelves. My doctors will not release me unless there is a step ladder or no climbing on the shelves. Needless to say even though WISHA was in, it has still not been fixed. The employer will not allow me to have a step ladder saying that would be unsafe in the fast paced environment and the climbing on the shelves is still in the JA. What do I do???
