I read the posted messages regarding preventing wage garnishment. HA HA! I was served with a wage garnishment on an apartment I had never rented, nor did I know where it was. I called the attorney to discuss the case and to let him know that I had proof of residence during that time and inform him that it was identity theft. He told me he did not care, and that I was going to pay the debt. I filed a stay/motion. That did not work. I filed a motion to dismiss and included copies of my signature, my proof of residence, as well as a statement from current landlord at the time. The judge so much as said F*** you! Pay the man. The judge said he did not care about the actual evidence that I would pay for that apartment because it was in my name. So now what other avenues could I have taken.
