What is the name of your state? california

I filled a bankruptcy chapter 7, in 1999 and a Discharge of Debtor was issued in 1/19 2000.
In a recent credit report that my local bank ordered. One item from a collection company was never reported on the final discharge, I have tried to contact the bankruptcy attorney, and found out his current status is "Not Entitled". The collection company is reporting the account as "open" and the bank is asking me to show it as closed or pay the account off.
What can I do to get this matter resolved.
Do I pay the creditor or can it be ammended to the existing bankruptcy.?

Normally, you would have your attorney write the creditor a very nice letter explaining that your chapter 7 includes ALL your debts at the time of filing, even those that you may have omitted from the creditor matrix. However, it appears that your attorney is no longer in practice. Was this a sole practioner, or was he a member of a firm?? If a firm, contact them and they should assign another attorney.

If he was a sole practioner, you are pretty much SOL and will need to either hire another attorney.... or pay the debt.
